Retken kuvaus

Lindos oli aikoinaan merkittävä ja vauras antiikin Kreikan kaupunki. Tutustu historialliseen valkoisten talojen reunustamaan merenrantakaupunkiin tällä ainutlaatuisella retkellä. Halutessasi voit tutustua myös Akropoliin digitaalisen Lindos 3D -sovelluksen avulla. "Olen erityisen innostunut opastamaan Lindoksessa, joka on yksi Kreikan vanhimmista akropoleista. Rakastan kuljeskella sokkeloisilla valkoiseksi kalkituilla kaduilla ja pysähtyä kapteenin talossa katselemassa sen kaunista mosaiikkilattiaa", sanoo Fotini, yksi oppaistamme.

Kun lähestyy Lindosia, ei voi olla huomaamatta sen yllä vuorella kohoavaa Akropoliin linnoitusta, joka sijaitsee 120 metriä meren yläpuolella. Kulje kaupungin kapeilla mukulakivikaduilla ja löydä somat kappelit ja upeat ortodoksiset kirkot samalla kun kuuntelet paikallisoppaan opastusta kuulokkeistasi. Pyhän Neitsyt Marian kirkon sisätilat on koristeltu ylellisesti freskoilla ja ikoneilla. Matkan varrella pysähdytte myös nauttimaan juomat kylän sydämessä sijaitsevassa perheyrityksessä.

Rodoksen ja Lindoksen merkityksestä menneinä vuosisatoina kertoo jotain se, että Johanniittain ritarikunta perusti sinne keskiaikaisen linnoituksen 1200-luvulla suojelemaan muinaisen Akropoliin aarteita.

Hinta turhan kova lyhyestä bussimatkasta ja englanninkielisestä opastuksesta. Akropolis oli vähän pettymys Ateenan, Rooman, Turkin ja monen muun historiallisten nähtävyyksien jälkeen. Aikaa olisi voinut olla enemmän että olisi ehtinyt käymään Lindoksen keskustassa. Rappusten määrä ja korkeus olisi voinut olla myös etukäteen paremmin tiedotettu. Opas teki parhaansa.
