What to expect

Tenerife's greatest natural wonder, Mount Teide, is one of the world's largest island volcanos and Spain's highest peak. Avoiding the busiest times of the day, this exclusive guided tour explores unique habitats and offers unbeatable views over Tenerife and other islands in the Canaries. Juana, one of our expert local guides, says, "Teide National Park and the surrounding Corona Forestal Nature Reserve together account for one third of Tenerife's land mass – the extent to which the volcano dominates our island is staggering."

At 3,718 metres above sea level, it's fair to say Mount Teide doesn't just dominate Tenerife, but the whole archipelago. And it's the centrepiece of its own National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Juana says, "The park boasts a variety of camera-grabbing landscapes. There's the scorched earth of the lava fields, the jagged rock formations of Roques de Garcia, the Mars-like badlands around Montaña Rajada and the pine forests of the Corona Forestal."

The park's trails have you pass through four different climate zones, which create an ever-changing kaleidoscope of terrains, flora and fauna. From lunar-like lava fields, you'll wander through forests of Canarian pine and across rocky ridges. A visit to the finger-like Roques de Garcia rounds off the trip. It is a great place to view even more of the valley. What's more, because of the early morning start to the excursion, the queues will be shorter.

Took an hour and a half to drive all the way along the coast and pick everybody up before the trip even started. The guide was annoyed with this and I totally understand her frustration. tour was in English and German but the guide didn’t speak very good English it was really hard to understand her English and she seemed to speak German most of the time again this was very frustrating. The actual tour of the volcano crater was great.

We spent more time going round the houses picking people up and dropping them off than we did on the tour itself. Our guide seemed / appeared to be drunk. Sluring words and coughing. English was not the best. That said the top of Teide was amazing and is worth a visit.

Drop off was awful. Having to drive to los gigantes to drop odd only 2 people from mount teidi tour, whilst everyone else was from las americas/adeje. Added over 90 minutes to the trip down awful roads, just to drop off 2 people of a full bus in a town the opposite side of the island. Great trip. Crazy organisation!!!

The whole experience was very good, the guide was really good and the information she gave us was amazing. The only downside was we could have done with a bit more time at a couple of the places apart from that it was well worth the trip
