  • Visit the best of Cinque Terre with time to enjoy it!
  • 2 main highlights in one day!
What to expect

Start your day at Santa Maria Novella train station where you get a brief intro from your tour leader and you'll board a train to Pisa. Follow your tour leader to Piazza dei Miracoli, home to the Leaning Tower, Baptistery, and Duomo. Enjoy 1.5 hours of free time to explore. Pose for photos by the Leaning Tower, join a guided tour (own expense), visit the Duomo (own expense), or explore the Baptistery (own expense). For Leaning Tower tickets, the 10:00 am entrance is recommended.

Meet the group again and take a 1-hour train to La Spezia, the gateway to Cinque Terre which can only be seen by local trains so expect some crowds and possible delays. Reach Vernazza where you can explore the pastel buildings and cobbled streets and learn about the village's pirate defenses. Spend your free time enjoying the beach, swimming, or exploring the elegant houses and romantic restaurants. Finally, visit Manarola, perched on a cliff overlooking the Ligurian Sea. Spend an hour exploring the harbor and taking photos.

The journey back to Florence takes around 2.5 hours.

What to remember

Know in advance

  • The tour is run by train. The Cinque Terre are located 2h30m outside of Florence in the Liguria region. The villages can only be visited by train or boat so in high season due to the popularity of the villages, the trains could be very crowed and subject to delays
  • It's recommended to not make any travel arrangements on the same day for when we return to Florence in case of any train delays
  • Don’t bring any valuable items on the tour. Thieves are frequent on the Cinque Terre
  • In the unlucky event you are late, and you miss the group, just take the first train to Pisa and you can meet the group there at 10.40am from Piazza Manin
  • Cinque Terre, comes alive from June until the end of September, however winter is the best time to appreciate the nature, the landscape and the quietness of this magic lands away from the summer crowds
  • From November until March the majority of the shops and local restaurants will close for their annual leave. It's recommended to bring a packed lunch during this time
  • The national park paths, due to land slides, can be closed by the local authorities every time they considered it to be dangerous

Remember to bring

  • Weather appropriate clothing (it can be windy, especially in the winter)
