It’s also known as the site of Julius Caesar’s assassination in 44 BC—an event that shaped Roman history. Arrive at the Pantheon, one of the best-preserved monuments of Ancient Rome. Built by Agrippa in 27 BC as a temple to all gods, it was later consecrated as a Christian church, helping preserve it through the centuries. Explore freely inside. Admire the massive dome—the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world—and the oculus, a skylight open to the heavens. Don’t miss the tombs of Raphael and King Victor Emmanuel II.
