Do this because
  • Join a boat excursion and discover Procida, the smallest of the Phlegrean Islands and the least contaminated by tourism
  • Explore the island of Ischia, the green island and thermal resort, almost as big as a city but quiet as only an island can be
  • Enjoy a number of stops to swim and snorkel, as well as snacks, drinks and a limoncello tasting offered on board
What to expect

Take a boat cruise to the small islands of Procida and Ischia on this full-day tour from Sorrento. Take in the scenic Mediterranean coast and local landmarks from the boat, then have time at each island for swimming and snorkeling. Your tour includes stops to swim and snorkel, snacks and beverages, and pickup and drop-off from Sorrento.

Your experience will start from a designated meeting point and you'll be transferred to the port of Piano di Sorrento. During the boat ride from Sorrento along the Gulf of Naples, you will see in the distance the small island of Nisida, the Phlegraean Fields, up to Capo Miseno, the extreme point of the Phlegrean peninsula.

Upon arrival in Ischia, you will start the tour from the Maronti beach, the longest on the island (almost 3 km). Then you will stop at the Green Cave, an incredible natural cave carved into the rock, inside which the light, reflecting into the water, creates a play of colors and shades of green. Right there you will stop to swim and snorkel, before heading to the Aragonese Castle, the symbol of the island in the world: a majestic fortress that stands on a huge rock, connected to the East side of the island by a bridge of 220 meters.

Then, you will make a stop at the port of Ischia for 3 or 4 hours of free time, in which you can explore the island on your own, maybe on board one of the iconic microtaxis (three-wheeled Apecar), a fun and unique way of touring Ischia and discover the main points of interest.

The tour continues towards Procida. While sailing around the island, you will also have a stop to admire: the islet of Vivara; Terra Murata with the former prison of Palazzo d'Avalos; Marina di Corricella, a wonderful village famous worldwide for its multicolored houses; the bay of Chiaiozza and much more. Also in Procida, you can swim in one of the many bays along the coast.

In Procida, you will have 1 or 2 hours of free time to visit the island by land in total autonomy.

Finally, you will leave Procida and return to Sorrento, with the final limoncello tasting.

Upon return to the port of Piano di Sorrento, the driver will take you back to the meeting point.

Herculaneum and Vesuvius Tour with Local Lunch

Wandering around the archaeological site of Herculaneum is just like stepping through an open-air history book. On this tour, you'll visit what remains of this once-thriving seaside town, as well as see Mt Vesuvius – the architect of its destruction. Andrea, one of our local experts, says, 'Unlike Pompeii, Herculaneum's deeper burial under volcanic mud resulted in an astounding level of preservation. It's a quieter, more intimate experience'.After Vesuvius's dramatic 79 AD eruption, Herculaneum became a town frozen in time. Now resurrected from its volcanic slumber, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is brimming with stories untold. On a guided tour with trusty headsets, you'll see the haunting boathouses – the sombre final chapters of desperate refugees – and the town's beautifully preserved marble floors, mosaics, and vibrant frescoes. Andrea says, 'Like many Roman towns, Herculaneum had a complex of public baths, which were a hub of daily life. These baths are particularly well-preserved and showcase the complex heating systems and detailed mosaics that adorned their walls and floors'.Lunch will be at a friendly, local restaurant, serving up Italian classics. You'll then head up the mighty Mount Vesuvius – the only active volcano in mainland Europe. With its eye-catching panoramic views over the Mediterranean Sea and Naples, it's well worth the trip. The surrounding terrain, sculpted by past eruptions, only adds to the jaw-dropping scenery.
